Paxil is an effective medicine prescribed for the treatment of depression, social anxiety disorders and posttraumatic stress.

A Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor, Paxil acts on Serotonin, a natural chemical in the brain that determines the mood of a person. The drug restores the balance of Serotinin, which helps in bringing back the mood of a person to its normal levels.

The drug has to be taken orally, with or without food. Take care that the drug is not crushed, chewed or broken, as Paxil should only be slowly absorbed into the blood. You should only swallow the drug.

The drug has to be taken every day without missing a single dosage for better results. If by chance a dose is missed, take it as soon as your remember it. But if time for the next dosage, leave the missed one and continue with the regular dosage. Never take a missed dose with your regular dose as it can be risky. You should have to contact your doctor immediately if you suspect an over dose. Nausea, tremor, vomiting, sweating, blurred vision, rapid heartbeat, decreased urination and seizures are some of the symptoms of Paxil overdose.
